Synopsis of R.I.P.D.:
R.I.P.D.: Rest in Peace Department is inspired by the 1999 comic book created by Peter M. Lenkov. The film features performances by Jeff Bridges and Ryan Reynolds, alongside Kevin Bacon, Mary-Louise Parker, Stéphanie Szostak, and Marisa Miller. The narrative follows two law enforcement agents (Bridges and Reynolds) as they strive to locate and capture monstrous entities known as “Deados,” who are masquerading as regular individuals to evade their ultimate judgment in the afterlife. As they delve deeper, the agents uncover a malevolent scheme aimed at upsetting the cosmic balance and extinguishing all life, compelling them to collaborate in thwarting this threat.
In 2022, a direct-to-video sequel titled R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned was released. This prequel to the original 2013 film features Jeffrey Donovan and Rachel Adedeji and is set to be available on Peacock starting January 1, 2025.
