Full Plot Synopsis
The story follows Asia Reaves (Zazie Beetz), a resilient woman recently released from prison who is desperate to rebuild her life. Haunted by a childhood trauma where she was forced to leave her younger sister, Maria (Myha’la), behind to escape their abusive father, Asia has spent years searching for her. Her quest leads her to The Virgil, an ultra-exclusive, Art Deco high-rise in Manhattan that caters to the world’s most elusive elites.
Asia secures a job as a live-in housekeeper, a position that grants her access to the building’s inner sanctum where she believes Maria is being held. She is welcomed by the building’s stern, matronly superintendent, Lily Woodhouse (Patricia Arquette), who introduces her to the “family” of eccentric tenants. However, the hospitality is a facade.
As night falls, the Virgil transforms into a demonic death trap. The wealthy residents are revealed to be a Satanic cult who have traded their souls for immortality. To maintain their eternal life, they require a monthly human sacrifice—and Asia is the chosen offering.
